Check it Out! “Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel” Explicit Review

I chose "Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles," because there was a free shuttle from the airport and it was the cheapest Marriott hotel near the airport. I arrived at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the evening and asked for a tour the next day, so I looked for a hotel with a free shuttle from LAX rather than going to the city. There were several 4-5 star hotels near the airport, but I wanted Marriott and chose the cheapest among them.

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

The hotel is right on the street near the airport.

The hotel was stood out with a big sign.

At night, the hotel sign is lit up making it easy to find.

There was a drive way in front of the hotel.

The lobby was bright with chandeliers. It was not a big space, and it was crowded with people.

There were many people waiting in line to check in, but I did not have to wait too long and everything went smoothly.

There were refreshments prepared in the lobby.

The room was very spacious with a calm atmosphere. However, the sound of cars passing by on the street bothered me a little. Also, I could hear the sound of planes, because there was an airport nearby, but it could not be helped. I could also hear the sound of doors of other rooms closing and people passing by in the corridor.

The bed was spacious and fluffy which was very nice. The pillow was not too fluffy and I could sleep well. The bedside table didn’t have an outlet plug, so I couldn’t charge my phone nearby.

There was a TV and a desk across the bed.

There was a spacious desk next to the TV, and I was able to work at ease.

A sofa and table by the window.

The room seen from the window.

A window in the room.

Unfortunately, my room was on the 3rd floor, so the view was not great.

There was a bathroom on the left, after entering the room. A closet and mirror were on both sides.

The bathroom was bright and spacious. There was no bathtub in the bathroom, only a shower room. However, I was a little bothered about the smell of sewage coming from the toilet.

The shower room had a fixed shower and the water pressure was slightly weak. The temperature was easy to adjust.

Shampoo, conditioner and soap were prepared in the shower room. My hair felt nice the next day.

The sink was bright with a magnifying mirror.

Body lotion and soap was prepared on the sink. In addition, toothbrushes and bathrobes can be requested from room service.

There were two hooks on the door and it was convenient to be able to hang towels.

Closet and safe

There was a closet on the left side of the entrance.

There was enough space and hangers prepared to hang clothes.

There was an iron, ironing board, laundry bag, baggage rack and so on.

There was a safe in the closet. It was very spacious.

Mini bar and cafe

There was a cafe corner on the desk. There was Starbucks coffee, but unfortunately, no tea. There was also a free bottle of water.

An ice pale and glasses under the TV.

There was a fridge, but nothing was inside.

Restaurants in the hotel

There was a bar called “Costero Bar” at the back of the lobby on the 1st floor. There was a large bar counter, and it was busy during dinner time.

Facilities in the hotel

There was a large pool at the back of the lobby on the first floor. There was also a restaurant by the pool.

There were many beach beds and sofa beds, and towels were neatly arranged. It was a little cold in September, so there were not many people swimming in the pool. The pool is open from 6am to 10pm.

There was a gym on the 1st floor.

It is open 24 hours a day.

Water and towels were prepared.

There was a laundry room.

You can buy detergent here.

A business center at the back of the lobby.

Hotel surroundings

The area around the hotel was a boulevard and it was not crowded, and I especially did not see many people walking outside at night. Because I could go to the airport by shuttle, I did not have to go out in particular. Since there are no restaurants or shops nearby, it is better to do everything at the hotel.

Staff and guests

There were many guests at the time of check-in, but the procedure was fast and smooth, so I did not have to wait too long. The staff was very kind. The concierge staff was always at the desk and the boy at the entrance greeted me every time.

There were many elderly Western guests. I only saw one family with children. I saw many pilots and flight attendants staying.

From the airport, it took less than 5 minutes on the shuttle bus. Shuttle buses leave each terminal and wait where “Hotel Shuttle” is written, and when the Sheraton bus arrives, raise your hand and they will stop. There were many other hotels around my hotel, and restaurants and shops were far away, so there weren’t many people outside. There are many shuttles to the destination if you return to the airport, and many people go by taxi or tour. Santa Monica and Venice Beach are about 20 minutes away by car, so it is easy to get to.

I had a nice stay at this hotel. I was happy to be able to get to the hotel from the airport (depending on the terminal) in about 5 minutes. There were a lot of rooms and the lobby was lively, but it was not noisy and the atmosphere was good. It was a shame that I could hear the sound of cars, planes, other guests in the hallway and from rom next to mine, but I was tired so I slept well. There was a Starbucks open from 5:00 in the lobby and was convenient for breakfast. It is not suitable for sightseeing and shopping because there are only hotels around, but it is very convenient for long flights or early morning flights. I was especially happy when I asked for amenity, and it was delivered immediately despite the large number of rooms. Service was very good and I was satisfied with my stay.
