Check it Out! “Oldfields House” Explicit Review

I chose "Oldfields House," because I was looking for a single room at a B&B that includes breakfast. I wanted a place not too far from the hotel I stayed the day before, but close to the Abbey Hotel, which is my next destination. I wanted to stay at a B&B, because I wanted to get to know the owner, and hoped that she can give me advise about where to travel. The reviews were good, so I decided to stay here.

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

The exterior is an old British building that has a parking lot right from the road, and with a garden at front. The entrance was small, and hard to find.

The front desk was by the entrance, and there was just a desk with a computer.

Stairs leading to the guest room.

Guest room entrance area.

What is the Single Bed Room like?

The entrance door seen from inside of the room.

Because it is a single bed room, I can not complain, but it is small and narrow. I was bothered about the white and black striped pattern on the wall for a while, but I got used to it after 3 nights. I liked the design of the attic with a sloping roof.

The bed was comfortable to sleep on. The hardness of the pillows were just right and I was able to sleep well. Every day, the bed sheets were changed, so it felt very nice.

The desk was wide and convenient to put things on top. There was water prepared on the bed in a glass bottle.

The TV was small, but the remote worked well.

There was a chair across the bed.

Window in the room.

There is only a shower. The water pressure was strong enough. It was not difficult to use, and the water temperature quickly became warm. However, because the space is small, it was a little hard to wash. The towels were never changed, and only folded neatly.

Amenities were only shampoo and body soap. There was no conditioner, so I had to use the one I brought with me.

There was a hairdryer in the drawer.

Closet and safe

There was no closet, and only a place to hang clothes on the wall. There was no safe either.

Restaurants in the hotel

There was no restaurant, but I was able to have breakfast.

Breakfast venue.

Vegetarian English Breakfast.

There were drinks.

There was also sparkling wine which was very nice.

Facilities in the hotel

There is a garden and it can be seen from the window of the guest room, but the passage to actually go from the entrance was narrow and it was difficult to get to. It was cleaned up very well, so I enjoyed the view very much. The gardener was being cared for in the evening.

Environment around the hotel

There are other B&Bs nearby, but no shops. The area around here seems to be a luxury residential area, and I heard from the hotel staff that the area is safe. It is a quiet place where you can wake up in the morning with sound of birds chirping. You have to walk a steep hill to Bath Spa Station for about 15 minutes, so if you have a lot of luggage, you can call a taxi.

Staff and customer base

The staff were friendly and helpful. He/she helped me carry my suitcase. As I stayed for 3 nights, and became close with them and talked about many things.

There were many couples, and many of them came by car. There were many British people. The guests seemed to be staying to get some peace and quiet.

It is far from London Heathrow Airport. You will need to get to Bath Spa Station by train or by bus. There are other small airports around, but depending on which country you are flying in from, it may be more convenient to come from Paddington Station in London.

It takes about 15 minutes to get to the train station and bus station. But the people staying here didn’t seem to care so much and walked refreshingly. It was about 20 meters to the station.

I had a nice stay at this hotel. It was hard to find a single room, so it was nice that this hotel offered one. The steep slope was a bit hard, but the summer in England was long, and it was bright and comfortable until 9 o’clock. While staying at this hotel, I participated in a local tour twice, and the staff knew about the tour and served breakfast earlier than usual which was very kind of them. Breakfast was very satisfying because there was sparkling wine in addition to orange juice and apple juice at the free drink corner. I made a reservation after knowing that there was no elevator and that the single room was on the top floor, but I was not particularly troubled because the staff helped me carry my suitcase. I would like to stay here again when I visit Bath.
